Working with Female Violence
Jackie Craissati and Kerry Beckley are joined by Anna Motz, Consultant Clinical Forensic Psychologist and Forensic Psychotherapist, to discuss the particular challenges and differences that may be encountered when working with women in forensic settings. The conversation will aim to set the scene, in terms of understanding the rates of offending and re-offending within the female population, and the circumstances which may be more particular to mothers. We will also share our thoughts on the use of structured risk assessments, which have been based on the research evidence underlying male violence. Anna will discuss her significant experience and expertise in engaging and working clinically with women, particularly those with sexual or stalking offences, and those with traits of psychopathy. We will consider the emerging evidence supporting effective interventions - with a focus on workforce needs and systemic models - and share thoughts as to how things could change for the better in the future. Come join the conversation.
