Intimate Partner Violence: Taking a look at the more controversial aspects of the evidence base for effective practice
Jackie Craissati and Kerry Beckley are joined by Nicola Graham-Kevan, Professor of Criminal Justice Psychology at the University of Central Lancashire to talk about some of the more controversial issues in the assessment and treatment of individuals who perpetrate violence against intimate partners. In this lively one hour webinar we discuss the current socio-political frame for thinking about IPV, and how this has inadvertently hindered progress in understanding the complexity and heterogeneity of the clinical and management issues. We focus on the established research evidence and Professor Graham-Kevan outlines the emerging picture in terms of effective interventions which will take us forward in addressing IPV, identifying the direction of travel for future developments.
