Sexual Homicide: a question of sadism or panic?
Forensic Conversations is back with its 7th webinar, with Kerry Beckley and Jackie Craissati discussing the key issues in assessing individuals with a sexual homicide conviction. We will start by sharing our reflections on the emotional impact of this most distressing of crimes on our own practice, before focusing on the evidence base. Our conversation will incorporate consideration of risk assessment tools before turning to sexual homicide typologies as one of the more useful aids to assessment. We intend to rely heavily on case material to bring these typologies to life, and this will lead us to one of the most complex areas of debate - the role and function of fantasy in understanding the offence and therefore, identifying the interventions most likely to be effective.
