Armed robbery: A faulty business model?
Kerry Beckley and Jackie Craissati join forces again to discuss the knotty problem of armed robbery: risk, formulation and interventions. This is a type of crime that poses challenges to our usual models for understanding offending behaviour, and the published outcomes - reoffending rates, recall to prison and response to interventions - can be disheartening. This conversation will range from risk - the use of the HCR-20, the role of Class A drugs, instrumental versus reactive aggression, and how to do a weapon assessment - to the ways in which ‘enlightened self-interest’ and cognitive self-change offer meaningful ways to think differently about interventions. On the way, the conversation will touch on gangs versus offending with associates, and draw on models of gang-exit that could be applied more broadly.
The webinar will take place on Tuesday 15th December, 4-5.15pm via Zoom. It will be suitable for any professional group working in Criminal Justice.
